Myth: Acne is a teenager’s problem

Acne is the most common skin pathology and most people in the world are familiar with it firsthand.

Myth: Acne is a teen problem

Although acne most often occurs in adolescents aged 13-14 years, by the age of 18 it usually disappears, but not for everyone and not always. The main reason for this phenomenon is hormonal changes associated with puberty.

However, acne can also occur in adults. Causes may vary, including immune, genetic, bacterial or neurogenic factors. For some people, acne goes away on its own and does not require serious treatment, but in some cases the inflammation may worsen. If you have acne, it is recommended to follow the rules of hygiene and use specialized products to care for problem skin.

It happens that acne worries not only during adolescence. People aged 30–40 years may experience this problem. To treat acne, it is recommended to consult a specialist for advice and develop an integrated approach, including diet and the use of medicinal cosmetics.

Before purchasing a new acne treatment, it is important to understand the causes of acne.

Myth: The sun dries out acne

Many people believe that tanning can help combat acne and give the skin a healthy, glowing appearance. Although short periods of sun exposure at permitted times may provide small improvements, it is only a temporary solution, and prolonged exposure to the sun’s rays may make the problem worse.

The connection between the sun and healthy skin is very conditional. Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the sebaceous glands are activated, which can lead to exacerbation of inflammation. Therefore, tanning cannot get rid of acne. You should not rely on sunbathing as an effective remedy for fighting inflammation.

In addition, excessive exposure to sunlight can negatively affect the skin, contributing to premature aging, the appearance of age spots and even cancer. Before going to the beach, you should consult a cosmetologist and study the effect of solar radiation on the condition of your skin. And, of course, don’t forget to take products with SPF protection factor.

Myth: Popping pimples is safe

Nobody wants pimples to appear on their face, especially in the most visible place. Many people believe that the easiest way to get rid of them is to simply squeeze them out.

However, trying to get rid of acne on your own can cause serious harm. Squeezing pimples can make the situation worse by causing additional inflammation and damage to the skin. Dermatologists strongly recommend against such attempts, as this can lead to scarring and the spread of infection to other areas of the skin.

Instead, it’s smarter to use concealer to cover up your pimples. In addition, to successfully get rid of acne, it is recommended to consult a dermatologist, follow his skin care recommendations and purchase suitable products to combat this problem.
